How it works
From the first call to the final outcome, here is what to expect.

Apply or register
Apply for one of our live vacancies, or register your CV. When there is a suitable role, a consultant will call you.

An initial call
We talk through the role, your experience and what you are looking for, and send you the document pack so you have the full picture.

A role-specific form
If you would like to go ahead, you complete a short form built with your consultant for that role, covering the things the client cares about most.

An in-depth call
We go through your answers with you to confirm your suitability and the practicalities, such as location, working pattern and availability.

Checked, then sent with your permission
Two consultants check your application, and it only goes to the client once you have given permission on the application form. On permanent roles you can add an optional video introduction.

Interviews and outcome
We arrange interviews, pass on whatever feedback the client gives and always let you know the outcome.

Candidate FAQs
Do you charge candidates a fee?
No. Our clients pay us, and there is never a charge to you for finding you work.
Will you send my CV to a client without asking me?
No. You give us permission on the application form for each role, and we never send your CV or profile to a client without it.
What kind of roles do you recruit for?
Permanent and contract roles across all IT disciplines, including software engineering, data, cloud and DevOps, infrastructure, security, architecture, project delivery and IT leadership, for clients in many sectors across the UK. See the roles we cover.
Do you have entry-level or graduate roles?
We rarely carry entry-level roles. If you are looking to break into IT, our Getting into Tech guide has advice on where to start.
What is in the document pack?
For each role we put together the job description, details of the benefits where they apply, extra information from the hiring manager, a document about the company and an introduction to Deerfoot, so you can decide with the full picture.
Do I have to record a video introduction?
No. Video introductions are optional and never required - we would never pass on a great candidate for not recording one. We offer them as standard on permanent roles, and you can do retakes if you like. On fast-moving contract roles they are usually not needed unless the client asks.
Will I get feedback?
We know how important feedback and hearing back are. We will do our best to get feedback at every stage of the process, and whenever the client gives it to us, we will always share it with you. Even when we do not have detailed feedback, we will always keep you updated on the outcome.
I am a contractor. Is there anything specific for me?
Yes. Our IT contractors page covers pay, timesheets, IR35 and working through an umbrella company.
Can you help if I need visa sponsorship?
Most of the roles we recruit for do not offer visa sponsorship. On the occasions a role does, we will say so in the job advert. Please note that Deerfoot does not sponsor visas and cannot provide any help or advice with the visa sponsorship process itself. Our Right to Work and Visa Sponsorship page has more information.
How is my personal data handled?
We handle your data in line with UK GDPR, comply with the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, and follow the REC Code of Professional Practice. Our privacy policy explains what we hold and why, and you can ask us to update or remove your details at any time by emailing dpo@deerfoot.co.uk.
How do your charity donations work?
