A thank you for every good introduction
A personal recommendation is one of the best ways to find the right person for a role, or the right recruitment partner. Our referral scheme is our way of saying thank you when you introduce someone to us.
You can refer a candidate, a hiring organisation, or both. There's no cap on the number of referrals, and you choose how you'd like to receive each reward.
Refer a candidate
All it takes to earn your first £50 is for your referral to be invited to, and attend, an interview with one of our clients through Deerfoot. If they go on to secure the job and join, you'll receive another £250 (and if they don't, you still keep the £50 from their interview). That means you can earn up to £300 for each candidate you refer, and with no cap on the number of referrals, the rewards soon add up.
How it works
- Ask the person first, then tell us about them using our candidate referral form. Or share our latest jobs with them and ask them to mention your name when they apply.
- We'll get in touch with them to talk about the roles that suit them.
- If they're shortlisted and attend a phone, video or in-person interview with one of our clients, you'll receive £50.
- If the client offers them the role and they accept, start and stay in the position for at least one full week, you'll receive a further £250.
Refer a hiring organisation
Some clients issue two or three vacancies a year, while others (especially those hiring contractors) can issue more than 20. At £50 per vacancy, 20 vacancies would earn you £1,000, even if we don't fill a single role. If we fill half of them, you'd receive another £2,500, and if we fill them all, another £5,000. That's up to £6,000 from one referral, and there's no cap on the number of organisations you can refer.
How it works
- Let your contact know you're referring them, then complete our hiring organisation referral form with their details.
- We'll get in touch with them once, mentioning your name, to see how we could help with their tech hiring.
- Once signed terms are in place, you'll receive £50 each time they give us a vacancy in the 12 months from the date we receive your referral.
- Each time they hire a candidate introduced by Deerfoot in those 12 months, and the candidate stays in the role for at least one week, you'll receive £250.
A voucher, or a donation in your name
Every reward can be paid as an Amazon voucher or, if you'd prefer, as a donation of the same value to a registered charity of your choice. If you don't have one in mind, we'll donate to the Born Free Foundation, the charity we already support with £1 for every CV we send to a client.

Referral scheme terms
We've kept these short, but please read them before you refer someone.
- The person or organisation you refer must be new to Deerfoot. If they are already registered with us, already in touch with us about a role, or already a client, we can't pay a reward for them.
- If more than one person refers the same candidate or organisation, the reward goes to the first referral we receive.
- You can't refer yourself or the organisation you work for, and Deerfoot employees can't take part.
- Candidate rewards: £50 when your referral attends a first interview with a client through Deerfoot, and £250 when they accept an offer, start and stay in the role for at least one full week. Each reward is paid once per candidate.
- Hiring organisation rewards apply to vacancies issued and hires made in the 12 months from the date we receive your referral. £50 is paid for each vacancy once terms are signed, and £250 one week after each candidate introduced by Deerfoot starts.
- Rewards are paid as Amazon vouchers or as a donation of the same value to a registered charity. We can't pay rewards in cash.
- Please only refer someone who knows you're referring them. When we first contact anyone you refer, we'll tell them who referred them and how we got their details, and they can opt out at any time. We keep referral details for up to 2 years and handle them in line with UK GDPR and our privacy policy.
- We decide whether a referral is eligible, and we may not pay a reward if a referral is made on behalf of someone who was already planning to contact us.
- We may change or end the scheme at any time. Any referral we have already received will be honoured on the terms that applied when we received it.
Questions about referrals
Who can refer?
Anyone can refer, whether you're a candidate we've worked with, a client, a former colleague or simply someone who knows a great tech professional. The only exceptions are set out in the terms above.
Do I need to ask the person before I refer them?
Yes, please. Only share someone's details once they've agreed to us contacting them. When we get in touch, we'll tell them you referred them and how we'll use their details. We keep referral details for up to 2 years in line with our privacy policy, and they can ask us to stop contacting them or delete their details at any time.
What kind of candidates are you looking for?
We recruit permanent, contract and interim tech and IT professionals across the UK, from software engineering, data and cloud to infrastructure, cyber security and IT leadership. Our jobs page shows what we're working on now, but we're happy to hear about good people at any time.
When will I receive my reward?
We'll let you know when a reward is due and confirm how you'd like to receive it. Candidate rewards follow the first interview, and the start date plus one week. Organisation rewards follow each vacancy once terms are signed, and each start date plus one week.
Can I refer my own employer?
No, the hiring organisation scheme is for introducing organisations you don't work for. If your own employer is hiring, we'd still love to help: please submit a vacancy or ask the hiring manager to get in touch.
How do you use the details I share?
We use your details to update you on your referral and send any reward, and the details of the person or organisation you refer to contact them about suitable roles or their hiring needs.
