You will bridge business needs and technology, improving the systems that support the bank's financial crime and surveillance controls.
The role

- Hands-on development, configuration and scripting using Python, PowerShell, .NET and Power BI.
- Turn business requirements into clear technical specifications.
- Carry out root cause analysis on system issues and design preventative controls.
- Act as the key technology contact for internal and external audits, providing evidence, documentation and data extracts.
- Work with Compliance, Operations and Risk teams as the liaison between business users and technology.
- Analyse large datasets for anomalies and control gaps, and support model validation including tuning machine learning models where relevant.
- Take part in change activity such as upgrades, patching, SIT/UAT and documentation.
What you bring
- Experience analysing complex systems in regulated banking, with a focus on financial crime prevention or surveillance technology.
- Python and PowerShell for automation, plus Dot Net and Power BI for data processing or integration.
- Data engineering background: Snowflake, advanced SQL or stored procedures, MongoDB and SSIS.
- Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming, with exposure to Kubernetes or similar.
- GitHub (or similar) for version control, and Agile/Scrum delivery using JIRA and Confluence.
- Exposure to AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch and deploying models to production.
- Helpful but not essential: transaction monitoring (e.g. Actimize), sanctions screening (e.g. Fircosoft) or communications/trade surveillance platforms.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
