Are you a portfolio leader who can steer a multi-million-pound infrastructure change book and still keep hold of the delivery detail? This Head of Infrastructure Portfolio role is a Director-level position with a leading global banking group in London, with real authority over what gets delivered, when and at what cost.
You'll own a large portfolio spanning data centre, network, cloud and end user compute modernisation, lead a team of around 13 consultants and contractors, and report to CIO level and senior committees. It is a hands-on role for someone who understands how infrastructure differs from software delivery, and who can link modernisation to risk reduction and resilience.
The team is moving towards more permanent hires, so you'll also help shape and grow it.
What You'll Be Doing
- Owning the infrastructure investment portfolio end to end, including the delivery roadmap, critical path and prioritisation decisions
- Overseeing programmes across data centre migration, network transformation, cloud migration and end user compute modernisation
- Controlling baselines for budget, scope, benefits and timeline, including change approval, business case sign-off and project closure
- Managing investment budgets, forecasting and capex/opex decisions, and working with procurement on vendors and contractors
- Reporting to CIO-level stakeholders and senior committees from golden-source data, and challenging delivery risk
- Leading, recruiting and developing a team of around 13, and matrix managing wider delivery staff
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years delivering programmes and projects in the private sector, ideally in banking or wider financial services such as insurance or asset management
- Genuine portfolio management experience on top of project and programme delivery, covering prioritisation, resource allocation, roadmaps and dependencies
- Hands-on infrastructure transformation experience across data centre, network, cloud or end user compute, with individual projects of £2m or more
- Strong financial management, including capex/opex, budget planning, forecasting and IFRS
- Line management experience and the credibility to influence and report at CIO and executive committee level
Desirable: annual and multi-year planning cycle experience, banking regulation and regulatory change, vendor contract negotiation, SOX and control environments, waterfall and agile delivery

This role needs genuine portfolio management experience, not project or programme delivery alone, and a private sector background.
