VP Finance Technology Project Lead
London | 3 days per week in the office (hybrid)
Are you a technology delivery leader who's ready to take ownership of a major change programme at the heart of a global banking group's Finance function? This is a rare chance to step into a Vice President role leading a team of around 20 on-shore and off-shore technologists, driving strategy, design and delivery of critical accounting and financial reporting technology across a complex, multi-entity international bank.
You'll sit at the intersection of Finance and Technology, translating high-stakes regulatory and business requirements into robust, scalable solutions, while working directly with senior stakeholders across Finance, IT and the wider global organisation. If you want genuine influence, a sizeable team to lead, and a portfolio that spans General Ledger, regulatory reporting and financial control, this is a standout next step.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, plan and deliver technology projects across General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Fixed Assets, Financial Control, Tax, Financial Planning, Procurement, ESG and regulatory reporting (e.g. COREP, FINREP, NSFR), using Agile or Waterfall as appropriate.
- Own the Accounting Technology roadmap alongside Finance and IT leadership, prioritising initiatives by business value, risk and regulatory deadline.
- Act as the key interface between senior Finance stakeholders (CFO, Financial Control, Tax, Treasury) and IT delivery teams, translating complex financial requirements into clear technical specifications.
- Lead and develop a team of circa 20 on-shore and off-shore technologists, and manage relationships with third-party software and implementation partners.
- Guide the architecture and design of accounting solutions, focusing on scalability, control integrity (SOX) and data quality/lineage from trade capture through to the GL and reporting layers, including cloud platforms and reporting/analytics tools.
- Ensure all solutions meet internal risk frameworks and external regulatory requirements (e.g. SOX, Basel 3, PRA/FSCS), embedding strong security and data privacy controls, and lead technology remediation arising from audit or compliance findings.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 8 years in IT project delivery, including at least 4 years focused on Finance/Accounting Technology within an investment bank or major financial services institution.
- Practical understanding of how the P&L and Balance Sheet are produced, and of the month-end close process.
- Deep functional and technical knowledge of a modern General Ledger platform (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Workday) or industry-specific solutions such as OFSAA, Aptitude or Financial Accounting Hub.
- A proven track record leading complex, cross-functional technical delivery on significant, regulated-environment projects, with strong stakeholder communication skills and the cultural sensitivity to work across a global organisation.
- Solid grasp of system integration patterns (flat files, APIs, MQ messaging), data warehousing/reporting concepts and SDLC tooling.
- A degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering or a related field; a project certification (PMP, Prince2 or Agile Scrum Master) is highly desirable, as is prior accounting exposure or familiarity with IFRS/UK GAAP/J-GAAP standards.
