Software Development Manager - £50k-£60k – Dependent on Experience

Responsibilities / role
This will include:
• Manage the team to develop and support a number of key business applications and platforms
• Be a Subject Matter Expert in our future technologies - Microservices creation and management, Salesforce, Azure DevOps.
• Lead the Retail Applications team to ensure it contributes to the company achieving its goals. Develop the skills and capabilities of the team to meet the needs of the business.
• Develop productive relationships with business leaders and product managers across the organisation to influence how applications can enable new sources of value.
• Define and enhance methodologies and practices for the application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.
• Ensure that application processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.
• Work with the IT Architecture team to implement and manage application product roadmaps, status reporting, metrics and benchmarks.
• Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organisation.
• Create and implement a roadmap for each application, and application stack component
• Implement Agile, ITIL and DevOps frameworks and ensure team processes, roles and responsibilities align to these methodologies.
• Create and implement a roadmap for application development toolsets – ensure migration to DevOps toolset is a success by embedding the toolset in all processes.
• Ensure security and compliance with security standards and policies is included in all aspects of development and application management.
• Ensure that the appropriate environments and processes are in place to enable all development and testing to be carried out without impacting live environments.
• Ensure that developed solutions are robustly tested before being deployed in compliance with Test strategy and change policies.
• Build a culture of continuous improvement across the wider IT Solution Development team, including improvements to software development methods, improvements to the delivery speed and quality and improving team skills and learning.
