Prospect improving for IT contractors

Over the last couple of months we have seen a noteable improvement in the IT contractor market-place. Hopefully this trend will continue as we move into next year. The downward pressure on day and hourly rates appears to be subsiding for 'in demand' skills such as JAVA / J2EE and .net. However some roles and disciplines are still suffering, especially project management level and desktop support roles where over supply is keeping fee rates down, as individuals show flexibility on fee expectations to remain competitive.

If you are an individual seeking a role (either contract or permanent) we recognise this can be a difficult time. It is important to keep positive and continue to apply for appropriate roles even if you are experiencing a poor response on applications. Knock on enough doors and one will open for you. This is especially important as we enter what are the traditionally 'quiet' months of December and January.
